Harrison Central Huskies graduate on Friday
CADIZ — The Harrison Central Class of 2024 will graduate at 7 p.m. Friday at the school’s main gymnasium.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for guests. Seating is first come, first serve, and a livestream will be provided on an outdoor screen at the track and online through HC-TV at youtube.com/c/HCTV Huskies
The Class of 2024 includes 103 total graduates, 25 honors graduates, 26 National Honor Society graduates, 11 National Technical Honor Society graduates and four military enlistments.
The Baccalaureate will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Harrison Central Performing Arts Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. The ceremony is conducted by local church organizations.
Katarina Carman is the class valedictorian. She is the daughter of Daniel and Emily Carman of Hopedale. She graduates with a 4.602 GPA, is a Ruritan Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, a four-year Academic Letter winner, and an American Legion Americanism Test top scorer. She is a senior class officer and has volunteered at Breakfast with Santa and the Husky Helper tutors. She is a member of the Hopedale Town and Country 4-H club and participates in soccer, where she lettered for three years and earned Eastern District and OVAC Honors. She earned the Ohio Governor’s Merit Scholarship, the Grand Lodge of Masons Scholarship, and was named a Franklin B. Walter Scholar. She will attend The Ohio State University to major in neuroscience.
The salutatorian is Ava Carson, the daughter of Donald and Tina Carson of Hopedale. She graduates with a 4.588 GPA, is a Ruritan Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, and an Academic Letter winner. She was class president for four years, a member of the Huskies Way Leadership Group, and a Close Up participant. She volunteers at the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, with youth sports teams, and as a Husky Helper tutor. Ava is a multi-year letter winner in basketball, track, and school service and will participate in the 2024 OVAC Queen of Queens. She has earned the Ohio Governor’s Merit Scholarship and the Ray Kroc Youth Achievement Award. Ava plans to attend The Ohio State University to major in Public Health with plans to attend physician assistant school.

∫ Hunter Bittinger, the son of Stanley and Elisabeth Bittinger of New Athens. He is a Ruritan Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, and an Academic Letter winner. He is a member of the Huskies Way Leadership group, a 4-H camp counselor, and a youth group leader. He volunteers for youth wrestling and tutoring. He is a multi-time letter winner in wrestling, track, and soccer. In wrestling, he was a 4-year captain, OVAC placer, state alternate, and won over 100 matches. He received an Athletic and Presidential Scholarship to attend Wheeling University. He will major in Secondary Education and continue his wrestling career.
∫ Julia Doty, daughter of Richard and Franci Doty of New Athens. She is a Ruritan Scholar, a National Honor Society member, an Ohio Honors Diploma recipient, an Academic Letter winner, and a member of the Huskies Way Leadership group. Julia volunteers with the Blessings in a Backpack program and as an elementary school tutor. She is a multi-year letter winner in volleyball and a part of the HC-TV broadcast media crew. She will attend Ohio University, where she earned an OHIO Excellence Scholarship. She plans to enter the education field with a degree in middle childhood language arts and mathematics.
∫ Nathan Frye, son of Nathan and Terra Frye of Scio. He is a Ruritan Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, an Ohio Honors Diploma recipient, an International Thespian Society member, and an Academic Letter winner. Nathan is a volunteer Tappan Lake firefighter. In addition to volunteering for the fire department, Nathan works with youth football, the Cadiz Food Pantry, and the Harrison County Fairgrounds. He is also a letter winner in football. Nathan will join the U.S. Navy to pursue a career as a nuclear engineer with plans to become a commissioned officer and attend Naval Flight School.
∫ Katelyn Moss, daughter of Woody and Julie Moss of Scio. She is a Ruritan Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, an Ohio Honors Diploma recipient, an Academic Letter winner, and a student council member. She has completed community service as a gymnastics coach, at Blessings in a Backpack, and as an elementary school tutor. Katelyn participated in Miami University’s Summer Scholars Program, was on the Academic Challenge team for two years, and did competitive gymnastics for two years. She has earned a Trustee’s Scholarship to attend Purdue University, where she will major in marketing.
∫ Nessa Culver, daughter of Tucker and Joanna Culver of Scio. She is a Ruritan Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, an Ohio Honors Diploma recipient, and an Academic Letter winner. She is a member of the student council and a part of the HC-TV broadcast media crew. She volunteers with the Cadiz Girls Softball Association, the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, and as an elementary school tutor. In addition, Nessa is a multi-year letter winner in volleyball, where she was an OVAC Scholar Athlete Award winner. She has received the Elbin Scholarship to attend West Liberty University where she will major in business.
∫ Danielle Drapp, daughter of Doug and Ann Drapp of Scio. She is a Ruritan Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, an Academic Letter winner, and an International Thespian Society member. She has completed community service with the Puskarich Public Library and worked as an elementary school tutor. Danielle is a multi-year member of cross country, bowling, musical theater, marching band, color guard, winter guard, and select choir. She was captain of the color guard and section leader in both band and choir. She will attend the University of Nevada Las Vegas where she will major in music education.
∫ Cheyanne Lake, daughter of Heather Hilbert of Cadiz. She ends her high school career as a Ruritan Scholar, an Academic Letter winner, an English Class Award winner, an Algebra II Class Award winner, and a Project Based Financial Math Class Award winner. She has spent time giving back to our community by graciously volunteering as an elementary school tutor and by working at the Harrison County Fair as a gate attendant. Cheyanne was awarded both the Henry T. Heald Scholarship and the Lewis College Scholarship to attend Illinois Institute of Technology. She will major in biochemistry.
∫ Isabel Yeager, daughter of Jeremy and Nicole Yeager of Hopedale. She is a Ruritan Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, and an Academic Letter winner. Isabel is a member of the Cadiz Ranchers 4-H club and Junior Fair Board. She volunteers at the Harrison County Fairgrounds, the Salvation Army, and as a tutor. Isabel is a letter and award winner in softball and soccer. She also shows school spirit by being the Husky mascot for athletic and community events. She received the Ohio Governor’s Merit Scholarship and will attend The Ohio State University majoring in business and minoring in animal science.
