CADIZ, OHIO – WVU Medicine Harrison Community Hospital received a grant from

Robert H. Reakirt Foundation to purchase four pieces of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation equipment, including a Physio Trainer, treadmill, cross trainer, and a recumbent bike.

“This grant has allowed us to invest in modern and functional cardio equipment,” Pam Burkhart, director of Cardiopulmonary Services at Harrison Community Hospital, said. “This equipment is integral to advancing the health and recovery of patients in our Cardiac and Pulmonary rehabilitation programs. This upgrade is crucial given that 80 percent of Harrison Community Hospital’s cardiopulmonary visits cater to patients recovering from heart related ailments, heart attacks, open heart surgery, congestive heart failure, COPD and lung diseases.”

Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation is pivotal for individuals recovering from cardiac incidents or severe respiratory conditions like COPD and lung diseases. The new cardio equipment enhances safety with advanced features, fostering a supportive environment for patients of all ages.

“The arrival of these new pieces of equipment, which enable a more safe and comfortable treatment process, will considerably improve patient care, patient quality, and treatment efficiency,” Burkhart said.
