Ferry police investigating shots fired
MARTINS FERRY — Martins Ferry police are looking for suspects following reports of shots fired on Broadway Street on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Martins Ferry Police Department, city officers along with Bridgeport police and Belmont County sheriff’s deputies responded to the 1100 block of Broadway Street on Thursday after residents said they heard several gunshots.
Upon arriving, the officers spoke with several residents in the area who said they saw a vehicle that appeared to be chasing a subject who was running away from the vehicle when the gunshots were heard. Witnesses said the vehicle was a dark colored sedan.
Witnesses said they saw the person running get into a red Cadillac sedan and flee before officers arrived.
Officers found several spent shell casings at the scene and gathered other relevant evidence.
