Victim flown from scene of car crash
BELLAIRE — A car accident that happened in Pultney Township last week injured two people.
The accident happened around 10 a.m. Thursday on Ohio 149 just west of milepost 2 in Pultney Township.
Two people — Devin Long of Neffs, driving a 2015 Chevy Impala, and James Hill of Bridgeport, driving a 2018 Chevy Silverado — were involved in the crash.
Long was headed east on Ohio 149 while Hill was traveling west. Long traveled left of center, striking Hill’s Chevy Silverado, which caused the vehicle to go off the right side of the road and hit the guardrail, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper D.J. Moran.
Neffs Fire Department used the Jaws of Life, an apparatus used to pry apart the wreckage of crashed vehicles to free people trapped inside, and transported Long to the landing pad at the Bellaire High School baseball field to be flown by medical helicopter to West Virginia University Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.
The Cumberland Trail Fire District transported Hill to WVU Wheeling Hospital for his injuries.
Moran said both Long and Hill sustained non life-threatening injuries. Hill has since been released from the hospital.
Moran said the OSHP doesn’t suspect any type of drugs or alcohol were involved.
Bellaire Fire Department also assisted on the scene.
