Great Trail Festival back for its 44th year

MALVERN, Ohio — The Great Trail Festival returns for its 44th year in Malvern, Ohio, a two-weekend celebration of American folk art, with contemporary and country crafting. The festival will take place at the festival grounds right on Ohio 43 between Malvern and Carrollton, approximately 1½ miles south of Malvern on Ohio 43. The first weekend of the festival will be held August 23-24, with the second weekend coming Aug. 30-Sept. 1.

Among the marquee events of the festival are a battle reenactment held each day of the festival at 1 p.m. The Great Trail Festival also will be home to the State of Ohio Tomahawk Throwing Championship, to be held Sept. 1.

Other features of the festival include live music and clog dancing, show fiddlers and Scottish pipers, a scenic grist mill and a live buffalo herd. Plenty of kettle-cooked foods and refreshments also will be available to purchase.

Guests can visit the Storybook Craft Village, where handcrafted gifts and keepsakes are on display to buy and take home. Selected quality artisans with distinctive arts and crafts will be on the grounds from Ohio and neighboring states.

Admission each day is $7 for adults and $5 for youth ages 10-18. Children under 10 are free when accompanied by an adult. Group rates are available.
