St. C. valedictorian, salutatorian announced

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — When the St. Clairsville High School Class of 2025 graduated on May 23 at the ECO Center, Kambel Sall and Jackson Dutton were named valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively.

Sall is the son of Jim and Jacqui Sall. He has been involved in the College Credit Plus program through both Akron University and Belmont College since freshman year, earning 49 hours of college credit. He was a member of the Student Action Committee, Staying Clean Club, Rotary Interact Club, Prom Planning Committee, Spanish Club, the Euchre Club, and Prom King candidate. He was a two-year member of the National Honor Society, serving as vice president, and a four-year student council class representative. Kambel is a four-year member and a two-year letterman of both the football and basketball teams. He is also a two-year member of the track team. In his senior year of football, Kambel obtained 2nd Team Eastern District, All-Valley Big School Honorable Mention, OVAC All Conference Honorable Mention, and the St. Clairsville Football Most Improved Award. Academically, Kambel is an eight-year Martins Ferry Chamber of Commerce Academic Award recipient, four-year Academic Letterman, WTOV9 Scholar Athlete of the Week, OHSFCA Academic All Ohio, principal’s list. and the Akron Dean’s List honoree. Kambel graduated with an honors diploma with additional honors seals of citizenship, college ready, science ready, and student engagement. Kambel is currently employed at Belmont Hills Country Club, where he has worked for the past two years. He also has worked at the St. Clairsville Recreation Center and is a current OHSAA Basketball Referee. Kambel has been accepted to the Honors College at Marietta College and plans to pursue a degree in petroleum engineering starting in the fall.

Dutton is the son of J. P. and Stacey Dutton. He is a two-year member of the National Honor Society, parliamentarian elect, and a four-year member of the French Club, Art Club, and Interact Club. He served as president of the Interact Club in which he volunteered at numerous community events including organizations such as the Tri-County Help Center, A Special Wish Foundation and Jerry’s Walk. He is a four-year member of the St. Clairsville boys’ soccer team and three-year member of the tennis team. Dutton has also been a member of the OVAC All-Academic Team as well as a letterman of both the soccer and tennis team. He has received several scholarships, including The Governor’s Merit Scholarship. He is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Jackson will be furthering his education by majoring in business at Ohio University in both the Ohio Honors Program and the Copeland Honors Scholarship Program.
