NARO Ohio Annual Convention slated for Sept. 10-11 in Cambridge
CAMBRIDGE — The Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Royalty Owners will hold its fourth annual convention Sept. 10th and 11th at the Pritchard Laughlin Center, located at 7033 Glenn Highway in Cambridge, Ohio.
The theme of the 2025 convention is “Facing our Future with Knowledge.” Organizers say the event aims to equip mineral owners with the information and tools they need to navigate the ever-changing landscape of mineral ownership, royalties, legislation, technology, and economics within the oil and gas industry.
The event will feature a full slate of educational presentations, a legal and legislative roundtable, and networking opportunities with other mineral owners and industry professionals. NARO Ohio President Dan Devitt and NARO Executive Director Jon Corkern will provide opening remarks.
On Wednesday, Sept. 10, onsite registration, exhibits, and a continental breakfast will begin at 8:00 a.m. Devitt will open the convention at 8:30 a.m., followed by Corkern at 9:00 a.m. with updates from NARO National.
That day’s speakers will include keynote speaker Greg Kozera of Shale Crescent USA, David Croft and DJ McClaughlin of Spilman, Thomas, and Battle, Ryan Armstrong of Nuverra SWV, Jason Simmerman and Molly Corey of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and Professor Tina Thomas from Marietta College. Topics will cover wealth preservation, Class II injection wells, carboncapture, abandoned wells, unitization and polling, and energy management. A free lunch will be served by Brent Tisher, and the day will end with an informal reception offering food, drinks, and networking opportunities.
On Thursday, Sept. 11th, registration and breakfast will again begin at 8 a.m. Devitt will welcome attendees at 8:30 a.m.
Keynote speaker Taylor Abbott, treasurer of Monroe County, will open the morning program. Additional presentations include a legal and legislative panel, an open roundtable, and a legal update on oil and gas litigation in Ohio by Sean Jacobs and Cody Smith of Emens, Wolper, Jacobs and Jasin.
Matt Onest of Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths and Dougherty will speak on legal and regulatory perspectives on unitization, pooling, and working interests. Bill Watson of the Utica Shale Academy will present an overview of that program. The day concludes with the annual NARO Ohio business meeting and raffle drawings. Lunch will be served by students from Noble Local Schools under the direction of Julie Harper.
