Fall festivities & furry friends
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Fall hasn’t arrived just yet, but there is a hint of autumn in the air — wouldn’t it be nice to have a new furry friend to cuddle as the season sets in?
Candace Fleagane, founder of Belmont County Cat Stray Shun, has a full slate of fall activities planned to help find homes for some of the cats and kittens that the organization cares for.
Her first stop is the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville, where she will be offering pets for adoption and items for sale from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6.
“We will be at the mall this Saturday from noon until 3 selling tons of fall decorations and hoping to get some kittens adopted,” she noted in a text message.
The organization is also planning some fundraising activities:
Zion Park in Flushing — 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 13
Belmont County Courthouse, St. Clairsville, main floor — 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday
Barnesville Pumpkin Festival, Main Street Barrel House — Sept. 25, 26, 27, 28
In addition to the fall decor available at all events, the Pumpkin Festival booth will also feature Christmas-themed items.
Fleagane also noted that Cat Stray Shun and the Belmont County Animal Shelter have plenty of orange kittens available for adoption in keeping with the colors of the autumn season.
