Fatal crash in Monroe County
A passenger died in a one-vehicle accident in Monroe County at 2:22 a.m. Sunday.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Kregg A. Longwell, 33, of Woodsfield suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Monroe County Coroner. Longwell was sitting in the front passenger seat.
The crash involved a 2004 Ford Escape driven by Rylee N. Harrigan, 18, of Graysville, Ohio. Harrigan was traveling south on Township Road 350 when she drove off the right side of the roadway, over an embankment and striking a tree.
Harrigan was transported by Antioch EMS to WVU Medicine Wetzel County Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A rear passenger, Scott A. Frontz, 32, of Woodsfield, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
According to the OSP, alcohol or drug impairment is suspected as a contributing factor in the crash.
