Belmont County Clerk releases the monthly report for September
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Belmont County Clerk of Courts office saw strong legal and title activity in September, according to the monthly report from Clerk Laura A. Zupko.
In the Legal Department, total clerk’s fees reached $14,985.87, with an additional $2,108.56 in interest fees. A total of 273 new cases were filed during the month. The largest category came from tax lien imports, accounting for 126 filings, followed by certificates of judgment at 58. Civil filings totaled 27, while 20 criminal cases were opened. Other categories included 13 dissolutions, 13 domestic violence cases, eight Court of Appeals filings, 3 domestic relations, and smaller numbers across other legal areas.
On the title side, the office collected $45,100.79 in clerk’s fees and $682.42 in interest. Staff issued 2,030 certificates of title, part of a year-to-date total of 18,021. Used vehicles dominated activity: 1,071 used cars and 389 used pickup trucks were titled. New vehicle activity included 206 new cars, 66 new pickups, and a mix of motorcycles, trailers, vans, and specialty vehicles.
Other titles issued included 63 motorcycles, 22 travel trailers, 38 ATVs, and 16 watercraft. Smaller volumes were reported for motor homes, manufactured homes, and unconventional vehicles.
The Clerk’s Legal Department is located on the third floor of the Belmont County Courthouse in St. Clairsville, 101 W. Main St., while the Title Office is at 52180 National Road East in St. Clairsville.
