At 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, a complainant from Overlook Court in Bellaire came to the station to report a Walmart account and several other accounts had been hacked. Credit cards were used. Her daughter’s credit cards were attached to her account, and they were used, as well. A deputy took a written statement and information for a theft report.
At 10:03 a.m. Wednesday, a sergeant on a traffic stop on McClainsville Road in Neffs issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for improper passing.
At 8:58 a.m. Wednesday, a deputy responded to an address on Powhatan Hill Road in York Township after a 911 call was received with static on the line and a busy signal upon callback. The officer did not come in contact with anyone at this address, the report indicated.
At 3:55 a.m. Wednesday, a caller from the Pilot Travel Center on Belmont-Morristown Road in Union Township reported that a group of teens – three males and one female – were in the store for a few hours stating that they were lost. The juveniles then walked toward Love’s Travel Center. Units responded and located the group. The teens stated that they were unable to contact their parents via phone. All of them were from Barnesville. Information was gathered, and the Barnesville police were contacted. Police were able to make contact with their parents, and all of the juveniles were picked up at Love’s, according to the report.
At 12:16 a.m. Wednesday, a deputy on a traffic stop on Ohio 7 north near Shadyside reported that a K-9 gave a positive indication on the driver’s side of the vehicle, which appeared to have fresh damage – paint marks on both sides. Shadyside police were also involved in the stop, according to the report. The Moundsville Police Department was contacted to see if they had any reported hit-skip incidents in their jurisdiction, which they did not. A female in the vehicle stated that the damage was there previously. One male was detained after he refused a field sobriety test. Hervie Leonard Johnson of Cleveland was transported to and booked into the Belmont County Jail on charges of driving under the influence, driving under suspension and a probation violation. One officer transported a female passenger to an address on Eagle Court in Wheeling.
At 10:12 p.m. Thursday, a caller reported a man with a gun on Jug Run Road in St. Clairsville. The caller reported that her brother-in-law was possibly having mental health issues. The male said he saw someone outside, went out with a gun and started shooting. The caller stated she did not see anyone. The male was still in the area and was in possession of the firearm, the complainant stated. Several units, along with the St. Clairsville Police Department, responded and deployed a drone to support manpower in the area searching for the male. The male was not located. It was determined that the male made no threats to himself or others. Units provided extra patrols in the area.
At 9:46 p.m. Thursday, a caller reported a suspicious vehicle in his driveway on West Lawn Avenue in Martins Ferry. The caller reported that he did not know from where the vehicle came or to whom it belonged. At 11:25 p.m., the owner came to get the vehicle, according to the report.
At 9:01 p.m. Thursday, a complainant from Mt. Olivet Road in Barnesville came to the station to issue a formal complaint about neighbor issues.
At 9 p.m. Thursday, a deputy responded to a request for assistance from the St. Clairsville Police Department on a motor vehicle accident with property damage only at the Tiger Mart on National Road in St. Clairsville. An emergency medical service squad from the Cumberland Trail Fire District reportedly backed into a vehicle with West Virginia plates. The squad was deemed to be at fault for improper backing, according to the report.
At 8:50 p.m. Thursday, an officer on a traffic stop on Central Avenue in Shadyside near the Dollar General reported that a K-9 unit gave a positive indication on the vehicle. A needle cap was found, according to the report, which noted that the driver stated there were drug users in the vehicle earlier.
At 7:41 p.m. Thursday, a detective on a traffic stop on Ohio 7 north in Shadyside issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for an equipment violation.
At 7:22 p.m. Thursday, multiple 911 calls were received from an address on National Road in St. Clairsville. According to the report, a disabled child was playing with the phone.
At 6:07 p.m. Thursday, an officer responded to an address on Margie Avenue in Bellaire for a report of a DOA. A funeral home was contacted, and a firearm was taken for evidence. Family members were given information regarding it, according to the report.
At 5:54 p.m. Thursday, a detective on a traffic stop on Ohio 7 south at Hanover Street in Martins Ferry issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for driving with expired tags.
At 5:15 p.m. Thursday, a deputy on a traffic stop near the West Virginia state line on Interstate 470 in Pultney Township issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for making a U-turn.
At 5:05 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to The Village Network on National Road in Bethesda for a report of a juvenile assaulted. Deputies transported one male to the Sargus Juvenile Detention Center.
At 3:26 p.m. Thursday, a detective on a traffic stop on Interstate 70 east in St. Clairsville issued a warning to an Arizona motorist for speeding and for following too closely.
At 9:13 a.m. Thursday, a complainant from an address on Dana Avenue in Bellaire reported that someone broke into her vehicle. A deputy responded. A purse that had a wallet with bank and credit cards in it was stolen from one vehicle. Another vehicle listed under the same incident had nothing taken from it, according to the report. Information was taken for a theft report.
