Woman arrested in Wheeling Island stabbing incident

WHEELING — A Wheeling woman was arrested in a stabbing incident Thursday morning on Wheeling Island.

Deandra Dawn McCann, 61, was arrested and charged with two counts of malicious wounding, according to the Wheeling Police Department. She was arraigned by Ohio County Magistrate Kevin Stryker, who set bond at $3,000, and was taken to Northern Regional Jail.

According to the Wheeling Police Department, both police and fire crews responded to an Ohio Street home around 9:47 a.m. Thursday for a report of two people allegedly stabbed during an apparent domestic dispute. The two victims, a man and woman who were both known to the suspect — were taken to WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital with serious injuries, according to a police spokesperson. They are expected to recover from their wounds.

When officers arrived, they received a description of the suspect and quickly identified, located and detained McCann.
