At 9:37 p.m. Thursday, a juvenile caller from an address on Main Street in Martins Ferry reported that his parents were fighting. An officer spoke with the mother, and she advised authorities that her autistic son was giving them issues and she did not need law enforcement. According to the report, everything was OK.
At 9:32 p.m. Thursday, a caller stated there was a suspicious vehicle with dealer’s plates in the driveway at an address on Sloans Run Road in St. Clairsville. The homeowner advised an officer that the vehicle can stay until the morning when Whiteside’s could be contacted.
At 8:09 p.m. Thursday, loss prevention at Walmart in the Ohio Valley Plaza in St. Clairsville reported that a shoplifter had been apprehended. The shoplifter, Holly Jean Foreman of Pennsylvania, was taken to the Belmont County Jail and booked on charges of theft/failure to appear.
At 8:01 p.m. Thursday, a caller from an address on Sharon Road in Colerain reported that her 13-year-old foster son was missing. At 10:35 p.m., the juvenile was located at South Zane Highway and Catawba Street, and was taken into custody. The juvenile was returned to the Sharon Street address, and officers canceled a be-on-the-lookout report.
At 7 p.m. Thursday, a caller from an address on Commercial Drive in Bridgeport reported that her son’s ex was threatening and harassing him. A deputy spoke with a caller over the phone to take information. The caller was advised to block all their numbers and was given information about how to obtain a civil protection order.
At 2:26 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to an address on Willow Street in Bridgeport for a report of an “ill raccoon.”
At 2:33 p.m. Thursday, a deputy requested a vandalism report for an incident in the Belmont County Jail. An officer responded and took information for a report.
At 1:49 p.m. Thursday, a deputy on a traffic stop on Ohio 7 south in West Wheeling issued a warning to a West Virginia motorist for driving with expired plates.
At noon on Thursday, the principal at the Belmont Career Center advised the school resource officer about a student being in possession of a nicotine vape device. It was the student’s first such offense. The student was given a disciplinary plan to include CCAP and vaping classes. The officer took custody of the device, marked it and stored it for disposal.
At 11:32 a.m. Thursday, a deputy responded to an address on Toad Hollow Road for a welfare check on a student from Bellaire Middle School. The officer spoke with the father, who advised the kids were sick and he forgot to call the school.
At 11:18 a.m. Thursday, a deputy responded to an address on Main Street in Bridgeport to speak with a male about an issue in Brookside. The male there also advised of an initial complaint of threats or harassment that had occurred in Wheeling. A second incident did not involve him, and the third complaint was a civil matter, according to the report.
At 9:36 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to Union Local Middle School on Belmont-Morristown Road for a report of a male student who allegedly held a box knife against a female student’s neck on the previous day. No injuries were reported. The female student was with the school therapist, and her parents responded to the school.
At 9:48 p.m. Thursday, a deputy on a traffic stop on Ohio 149 at Trough Run in Bellaire issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for driving outside of marked lanes. The driver advised that he was having engine problems, which was why he was driving slowly.
At 8:34 p.m. Thursday, a deputy was out at Morristown Park on a traffic stop. A male was sleeping in a vehicle at that address, according to the report. The subject, who had an expired registration from Virginia, was advised to move to a different place to sleep. He was given a warning for the expired plates.
