Belmont County Clerk of Courts reports activity for November

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Belmont County Clerk of Courts office handled a wide range of legal filings and title transactions during November, according to the monthly report released by Clerk Laura A. Zupko.

In the Legal Department, clerk’s fees totaled $32,506.49, with an additional $991.44 generated in interest fees. The office recorded 166 new cases filed during the month. Certificates of judgment led the way with 60 filings, followed by 29 civil cases and 21 criminal cases. Domestic-related matters were also notable, including 26 domestic violence cases, 10 dissolutions, and five domestic relations filings.

Other activity included two probation courtesy supervision cases, two sealed domestic violence cases, two URESA petitions for support, and two tax foreclosure filings. Tax lien imports accounted for seven cases, while no Court of Appeals or miscellaneous cases were reported for the month.

The Title Department also saw steady activity in November. Clerk’s fees in the Title Office reached $41,932.36, with $566.41 collected in interest. A total of 1,596 certificates of title were issued during the month, contributing to a year-to-date total of 20,158 titles.

Used vehicles continued to make up the bulk of title transactions, with 857 used cars and 295 used pickup trucks titled in November. New vehicle activity included 166 new cars, 79 new pickup trucks, and nine new trucks. The office also processed titles for motorcycles, trailers, manufactured homes, motor homes, vans, watercraft, and other specialty vehicles.

The Legal Department is located on the third floor of the Belmont County Courthouse in St. Clairsville, while the Belmont County Title Office operates on National Road East. Both offices remain central to the county’s court and vehicle title operations, serving residents throughout Belmont County.
