At 10:47 p.m. Sunday, a caller reported that someone was trying to break into her home on Maple Street in Powhatan Point. She said her door was locked, and they were trying to gain entry through the screen door, but the dog scared them off. Units responded and searched the area, but did not locate anyone. The alleged suspect did not gain entry into the residence, officers noted.
At 9:57 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to an address on Neff Street in St. Clairsville to assist St. Clairsville Police on a call. A 911 call had been received, and yelling could be heard in the background. Police units responded to the address, and a male subject there was not following commands, according to the report. Contact was made with the parties, and both were reportedly intoxicated. They agreed to separate for the evening, officers said.
At 9:40 p.m. Sunday, a juvenile’s mother called to request a welfare check on her daughter, who was being housed at Fox Run Hospital on Traco Drive in St. Clairsville. A deputy responded and met with the juvenile, who stated she was fine and that the complaints her mother made were false, according to the report.
At 9:38 p.m. Sunday, a deputy on a traffic stop on Interstate 70 west near mile marker 218 in St. Clairsville issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for driving outside of marked lanes and for speeding.
At 6:51 p.m. Sunday, a caller reported that four juveniles were throwing snowballs at peoples’ cars and at the apartment complex on Winding Hill Road in Bellaire. The caller requested extra patrols through the apartment complex. A deputy responded but did not locate the juveniles.
At 3:35 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to an address on Warnock Road in St. Clairsville for a report of possible domestic trouble. The caller was not at the residence at the time and requested a welfare check on a loved one there. Officers arrived on the scene and spoke with parties involved. They noted that this was an argument and there was never anything physical. A female gathered her belongings while officers were there and planned to stay at a relative’s home elsewhere.
At 9:18 a.m. Sunday, a caller at an address on Kagg Hill Road in St. Clairsville reported an injured deer on her property that needed to be put down. A deputy responded and dispatched the deer.
At 3:35 p.m. Sunday, an officer responded to a report of domestic trouble at an address on Warnock Road in St. Clairsville.
At 1:33 p.m. Sunday, a female caller reported that she struck another vehicle in the parking lot outside of Marshall’s on Mall Ring Road in St. Clairsville. An officer responded to complete a crash report.
At 1:18 p.m. Sunday, the sheriff initiated a traffic stop on Mall Ring Road in St. Clairsville and issued a verbal warning to an Ohio motorist for driving through the mall parking lot.
At 12:21 p.m. Sunday, a caller requested extra patrols at his address on Shrader Road in Bealsville.
At 10:21 a.m. Sunday, several officers responded to the Kontogiannis Apartments on Newell Avenue in St. Clairsville to assist St. Clairsville Police with evacuating the building.
At 5:01 a.m. Sunday, a caller from a juvenile detention facility in Colorado reported that a 15-year-old female was brought into their facility, and during intake questions, she stated that she was abused by her father when she lived with him. The juvenile did not know an address or a city. The juvenile currently resides with an aunt in Colorado. Officials searched the name of the father, and a few names matched, but none were from this area. Officials in Colorado contacted their Child Protective Services office and planned to speak with the aunt there about the situation.
