At 9 p.m. Tuesday, a caller requested a welfare check on a male at an address in St. Clairsville. Officers made contact with the male and a relative. All was well, according to officers, who noted that the male was going through a breakup and he believed the initial call was made to cause problems.
At 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, several officers responded to the Days Inn West on Holiday Drive in St. Clairsville for a narcotics complaint. Two people were detained, and a room was searched after a warrant was obtained, according to the report. Samuel Jermaine Pete was arrested on charges of aggravated possession of drugs, aggravated trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs — crack, trafficking in drugs — cocaine or crack, possession of drugs — meth, trafficking in drugs — meth, possession of criminal tools and illegal manufacturing of drugs.
At 8:07 p.m. Tuesday, an officer on a traffic stop on Ohio 800 and Bahmer Road in Barnesville issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for driving with no license plate light and for improper display.
At 6:36 p.m. Tuesday, an officer on a traffic stop on Wegee Road and Central Avenue in Shadyside issued a verbal warning to an Ohio motorist for not moving over on the roadway.
At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, a deputy on a traffic stop on Ohio 7 north in Shadyside issued a verbal warning to an Ohio motorist for driving with an expired registration.
At 4:61 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to Fox Run Hospital on Traco Drive in St. Clairsville for a report of an assault. Officers were advised that this incident occurred on the previous night and that morning, but staff at the facility learned about it that afternoon. Officials were advised that the primary aggressor was separated from the other residents. An investigation was pending. A report was to be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office at a later date.
At 3:27 p.m. Tuesday, a deputy responded to a juvenile complaint at an address on West Street in Holloway. At 3:48 p.m., the juvenile was located and was dropped off at 4:06 p.m., according to the report.
At 1:39 p.m. Tuesday, an officer responded to an address on Briarwood Drive in Flushing Township on a request for a welfare check on children who were supposed to be staying at the residence. The officer did not contact them at this residence, and a follow-up was pending.
At 12:42 p.m. Tuesday, a caller from Love’s Travel Center on Belmont-Morristown Road in Belmont spoke with an officer about the theft of an Xbox from his truck. The caller wanted a record of the theft for his rental agreement, according to the report.
At 12:12 p.m. Tuesday, a deputy responded to an address on National Road in Morristown for a report of a physical altercation that took place between two females. The deputy obtained information, and one female juvenile was transported to the Sargus Juvenile Detention Center.
At 11:13 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to Walmart on Valley Plaza Drive in St. Clairsville for a report of a subject with a possible mental issue.
At 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, a deputy requested a call record for drugs found in the Belmont County Jail. A female was found to be in possession of pills and a rock-like substance, according to the officer at the jail. Information was taken for a narcotics report.
At 10:03 p.m. Wednesday, several officers and units from the Bridgeport Police Department responded to a traffic stop on Interstate 70 east near mile marker 221 in Bridgeport. According to the report, consent was given to search the vehicle, and a detective reported finding a black backpack with a false bottom hidden compartment in the back seat. A large amount of U.S. currency was inside the backpack, according to the report. Shrink wrap with a white residue was found in the truck, and a large amount of narcotics was located. A female from the vehicle admitted to having narcotics on her person, and three large bags of narcotics were retrieved from the female’s private area, the report stated. Bill’s towing was called to the scene. One male and one female were taken to jail.
At 8:36 p.m. Wednesday, an officer on a traffic stop on Main Street in Bridgeport issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for speeding.
At 8:08 p.m. Wednesday, an officer on a traffic stop on Ohio 7 north near Picoma Road in Martins Ferry reportedly was given consent to search the vehicle, but had no findings to report. The Ohio driver was given a warning for driving on a suspended license, and the motorist was standing by for a valid driver.
At 7:23 p.m. Wednesday, an officer on a traffic stop in the Circle K parking lot on Noble Street in Bellaire reported that an Ohio motorist denied consent to search the vehicle. A detective brought a K-9 to the scene, but the dog did not give a positive indication, the report indicated. The driver was given a written warning for driving under suspension.
At 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, a deputy responded to Fox Run Hospital on Traco Drive in St. Clairsville for a report of juveniles fighting. One female was detained and was taken to the Sargus Juvenile Detention Center.
At 4:33 p.m. Wednesday, a sergeant from the Belmont County Jail requested a deputy for a report of drugs being brought into the jail. A deputy responded and obtained the evidence. Information was taken for a narcotics report.
At 11:01 a.m. Wednesday, a representative of the Shaheen Law Office advised that she was sending over a husband and wife per the prosecutor’s office to fill out statements and file charges. The incident report listed the nature of the complaint as being threats or harassment. The report was to be sent to the prosecutor’s office for menacing charges.
At 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, a caller contacted a sergeant in an effort to get assistance for a friend who reportedly was fine but was living in a car after her ex turned off utilities at the property. The officer attempted to contact the female to direct her toward assistance. The female refused to answer the call, according to the report.
At 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Bridgeport High School reported that at approximately 1:45 p.m., an assault occurred in the high school gymnasium during gym class. A deputy and the high school principal were advised and responded to the gym.
At 11:35 a.m. Wednesday, a deputy was assisting with a structure fire at an address on Warnock-St. Clairsville Road in St. Clairsville.
At 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, the Belmont Career Center reported that a fight between two male students broke out during lunch. Staff members broke up the fight. The school resource officer escorted one of the students to the board room, and the other student was escorted to the office. The principal took the investigation from there, according to the report.
At 9:57 a.m. Wednesday, an officer responded to an address on Morgan Hill Road for a report of a self-inflicted gunshot with a Ruger 9mm handgun. Information was taken for a report.
At 7:50 a.m. Wednesday, the principal of the Belmont Career Center and the school resource officer interviewed a student who reportedly threatened to “blow up” the school, a threat that allegedly was stated the previous day in class. The teacher advised that the student made an off-hand remark about the action, but immediately stated that she was “kidding,” according to the report. School officials checked the student’s lockers, and nothing was found. A metal detecting wand was also used on the student, and nothing of concern was located. The student reportedly admitted to making the statement and immediately regretted the comment, advising that she understood why she cannot make those statements, even in jest. The principal opted to assign the student a disciplinary plan that included CCAP, and notified a probation officer. No charges were requested in this matter.
At 1:27 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported that her husband was at her residence in Union Township, and she has a temporary protection order against him. He left in a vehicle. A be-on-the-lookout report was issued for the male, who was possibly intoxicated, according to the report. Information was taken, and an officer was to follow-up with the incident on the following day.
