BELMONT COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

At 11:37 p.m. Monday, a deputy was flagged down about a semi that jackknifed on Interstate 70 west near exit 215. The deputy responded to the scene with personnel from the Cumberland Trail Fire District. The Ohio State Highway Patrol also responded to the scene and was handling the accident report.

At 11:18 p.m. Monday, a deputy was out on Barton Road in St. Clairsville at the scene of a motor vehicle accident with property damage only. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was notified, and Bill’s Towing was called to the scene.

At 9:52 p.m. Monday, an officer on a traffic stop on Mall Ring Road in St. Clairsville near Five Below issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for reckless operation.

At 9:05 p.m. Monday, a deputy on a special detail performed a welfare check on a 3-year-old at an address on St. Clairsville Street in St. Clairsville. The child was fine, according to the officer.

At 9:02 p.m. Monday, officers responded to the area of Blaine Bridge for a report of a motor vehicle accident. The caller sounded disoriented, according to the report. A sergeant was out with a vehicle on the west side of the bridge. An emergency medical service squad and the Ohio State Highway Patrol also responded. The patrol was handling the crash.

At 7:18 p.m. Monday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol requested a check on a disabled semi that reportedly was blocking the road on Ohio 149 near Love’s Travel Center in Belmont. A deputy responded and assisted the semi driver in getting the vehicle out of the roadway, which was reopened to traffic, the report indicated.

At 3:17 p.m. Monday, a caller reported a scam that involved an employee at Big Lot’s on National Road in Bridgeport. A deputy responded and took information for a pending theft report.

At 1:53 p.m. Monday, a sergeant responded to Ohio 7 north in Shadyside for a report involving the theft of 125 feet of cable, which an AT&T employee found to be missing. Information was taken for a theft report.

At 12:46 p.m. Monday, a deputy responded to a report of a DOA at an address on Sunset Heights in Bridgeport. The county coroner and a funeral home were contacted.

At 9:25 a.m. Monday, a caller from an address on Mt. Olivett Road in Barnesville reported that a suspicious vehicle with no license plates on it had been at that location for about three months. The vehicle was trashed inside, according to the caller. A deputy responded and looked up the owner using the vehicle identification number. The vehicle was registered to an owner in Pennsylvania. However, it was parked on private property, according to the report.
