At 10:57 p.m. Sunday, a caller from an address on Crescent-Barton Road in St. Clairsville reported hearing noises on her roof. A sergeant responded. The officer found tree branches on the roof at multiple points as well as “a wayward opossum” in nearby trash, according to the report. There were no signs of anything else at the residence.

At 9:09 p.m. Sunday, central dispatch reported a call about a shoplifting in progress at Walmart on Valley Plaza Drive in St. Clairsville. Deputies responded and took information for a theft report.

At 8:59 p.m. Sunday, a caller from an address on Crescent-Barton Road in St. Clairsville reported hearing a loud noise on the roof and expressed concerns about someone being inside the residence. Deputies responded and checked the area, but found nothing out of the ordinary, according to the report.

At 2:56 p.m. Sunday, a caller from Reynolds Memorial Hospital requested a welfare check at an address on Valley Road in Shadyside. A deputy responded, but did not locate the individual at that address. The license plate on the truck in the driveway did not match the name of the male being sought, the report indicated. The officer spoke with the neighbor next door, who said he did not know of anyone by that name.

At 2:51 p.m. Sunday, a deputy on a traffic stop on Mall Ring Road in St. Clairsville near McDonalds issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for improper display.

At 11:22 a.m. Sunday, the Northern Regional Jail contacted the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office requesting that an officer make contact with a family member at 100 Elm Street in Powhatan Point to give a death notification. According to the report, notification was given to the mother.

At 9:51 p.m. Saturday, an officer on a traffic stop on Interstate 470 westbound near Bellaire was given consent to search a vehicle, but found nothing. A warning was issued to the motorist for traveling outside of marked lanes and for a turn signal violation.

At 9:14 p.m. Saturday, an officer on a traffic stop on National Road in Bridgeport issued a warning to a motorist for an equipment violation.

At 8:21 a.m. Saturday, several officers responded to an address on Front Street in Powhatan Point for a report of domestic trouble. Neighbors called and reported that a female was being dragged back into the house. The neighbor could hear screaming and fighting. The male reportedly was barricaded in a room. At 9:24 a.m., officers used a “less lethal pepperball,” and at 9:30 a.m., a Taser was deployed. The male was treated by an emergency medical service squad and transported to the Belmont County Jail. Cyle Anthony Ellison was booked on charges of assault, criminal trespass, resisting arrest and obstructing official business.
