At 7:49 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the Dollar General on Belmont-Morristown Road for a report of a shoplifter. Information was taken for a report.

At 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, an officer on a traffic stop in the CVS lot in Bridgeport issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for driving outside of marked lanes.

At 7:38 p.m. Tuesday, an officer responded to an address on Broadway Street in Martins Ferry for a report of smoke coming from a building and a possible fire. The officer made contact with the resident, who had a fire pit, according to the report.

At 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, a caller reported that they thought a neighbor on West Main Street in Holloway was letting off dynamite. Two loud bangs were heard, and smoke could be seen from the back of the garage. Units patrolled the area.

At 5:28 p.m. Tuesday, a sergeant patrolled Wegee Road in Shadyside after a caller reported a suspicious male in the area, headed toward town, who was possibly under the influence.

At 5:56 p.m. Tuesday, a detective on a traffic stop on National Road East in St. Clairsville near Sunoco issued a citation to a motorist for driving on a suspended license.

At 3:53 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the area of Planet Fitness on Banfield Road in St. Clairsville on a narcotics call. A small amount of marijuana was found. Items were seized for destruction, and an officer spoke with an individual’s mother over the phone, according to the report.

At 3:11 p.m. Tuesday, a deputy on a special detail performed a well check on three individuals at an address on West Street in Holloway. All was OK there, according to the report.

At 2:58 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to the Belmont County Courthouse on 101 W. Main St. to assist St. Clairsville Police units with a fight in the back parking lot.

At 1:18 p.m. Tuesday, a deputy responded to a location on Steinersville Road in Powhatan Point for a report of a suspicious vehicle. An abandoned car there had no vehicle identification number and the ignition punched out, according to the report. Bill’s Towing was called to the scene to take the vehicle.

At 12:55 p.m. Tuesday, a deputy on a welfare check on two children from Bellaire Elementary School at an address on Milligan Avenue in Bellaire. A deputy spoke with a female on the phone, and the children were fine. The female was to contact the school and inform them.

At 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, detectives went to an address on 44th Street in Bellaire to assist with a domestic situation in which a male possibly had a gun. Bellaire Police units were in charge of the scene, and the gun was secured. The male was detained, according to the report.

At 10:58 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to an address on Willow Grove Road in Bellaire for a well check. A caller was “butt dialed” by the relative, and a possible domestic argument could be overheard on the line, the report indicated. Officers responded. A male at the scene had an active warrant out of Belmont County. Corey Lewis Armstrong was arrested and booked into the Belmont County Jail on a charge of failure to appear on attempted drug possession.

At 8:07 a.m. Tuesday, a caller from AT&T reported copper wire theft at an address on High Ridge Road in Bridgeport. A deputy responded and took information for a larceny report.

At 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, officers searched the area behind Big Lots Plaza on National Road in Bridgeport in an attempt to perform a well check on an individual reportedly in distress and living in a tent there. Officers made contact with the individual by phone in an attempt to locate him, but the connection was dropped several times, according to the report. A be-on-the-lookout alert was issued. However, officials were unable to locate the male or contact him again by phone.
