BELMONT COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

— 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, a deputy made a traffic stop on Interstate 70 eastbound at mile marker 218 in Richland Township and issued a verbal warning to a motorist for failure to maintain an assured clear distance ahead.

— 8 p.m. Wednesday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol requested a deputy check on a disabled vehicle on Barton Road in St. Clairsville. A deputy responded, but the vehicle was gone upon arrival.

— 7:29 p.m. Wednesday, a caller reported suspicious motorcycles behind Michaels at the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville. A deputy responded but found no motorcycles.

— 5:46 p.m. Wednesday, a deputy responded to an address on North Grady Road in St. Clairsville for a report of the caller’s father taking the water heater at the residence and cutting the power cord to the washer.

— 4:51 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to an address on Blaine-Chermont Road in Bridgeport for a report of neighbor harassment. The caller was advised to seek a civil protection order. The neighbor was contacted and advised to stay away from the caller.

— 6:54 p.m. Wednesday, a sergeant responded to Walmart at the Ohio Valley Plaza in St. Clairsville for a report of a dog in a car in the parking lot. The car was gone upon arrival.

— 6:38 p.m. Wednesday, a caller from Date Drive in Dillonvale reported her vehicle was hit while she was at work at Boscov’s at the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville. A deputy responded. The complainant said she did not know when the vehicle was hit. She noticed the damage on June 2. According to the responding officer, the vehicle had very minor cosmetic damage. Information was taken for a report.

— 5:24 p.m. Wednesday, a deputy responded to Dollar General on Ohio 7 in Powhatan Point for a report of a shoplifter.

— 2:46 p.m. Wednesday, a complainant from Hillview Avenue in Bellaire reported an interaction with a male on foot claiming to be a solar panel salesperson. The complainant found the male’s approach and interactions to be aggressive and unsettling, the report indicated. She provided a description of the male.

— 2:33 p.m. Wednesday, officers on a traffic stop on National Road in St. Clairsville near the BP station issued a written warning to a motorist for an equipment violation and unsafe tires. Consent to search was granted, according to the report, and a crack pipe was found in a passenger’s front pocket. A container in the glove box contained heroin residue, according to the report. The male was advised of pending charges.

— 1:22 p.m. Wednesday, a deputy on a traffic stop on Interstate 470 westbound near mile marker 3 in Pultney Township issued a warning to a motorist for driving outside marked lanes.

— 1:19 p.m. Wednesday, a deputy assisted with a disabled vehicle on Ohio 7 near the Interstate 470 interchange in Pultney Township. The officer remained until the vehicle was on its way.

— 6:34 a.m. Wednesday, an officer responded to an address on National Road in St. Clairsville for a report of a deer that needed to be put down. The deer was put down and left in a ditch, according to the report.

— 3:28 a.m. Wednesday, an officer on a traffic stop in Dilles Bottom on Ohio 7 issued a warning to an Ohio motorist for driving outside marked lanes.

— 2:34 p.m. Wednesday, units responded to an address on Criswill Road in St. Clairsville on a request for assistance from the St. Clairsville Police Department for a report of a fight.

— 2:02 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to an address on South Marietta Street in St. Clairsville on a request from the St. Clairsville Police Department for a report of an assault.

— 5:51 a.m. Officers were out on the 1300 block of Terrace St. for a report of a disabled vehicle. Bill’s Towing was contacted. Officers cleared.

— 9:51 a.m. An officer made a callback on station to a female regarding a previous incident.

— 2:52 p.m. Officers were out on the 1200 block of Pearl St. regarding a juvenile causing a disturbance. Officers spoke with the juvenile’s grandparents, and the juvenile will be disciplined accordingly. Officers cleared.

— 4:38 p.m. Officers were in the area of state Route 7 and Aetna St. regarding a BOLO for a reckless driver from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Officers had negative contact.

— 4:42 p.m. A female came on station to speak with an officer regarding getting her belongings out of evidence. The female was advised of the appropriate paperwork required to retrieve her belongings. Officers cleared.

— 5:33 p.m. Officers were out on the 500 block of Ohio Ave. regarding a parking complaint. Officers observed the vehicle in question and found it was not parked illegally. Officers advised the caller to contact the company the vehicle belongs to regarding concerns. Officers cleared.

— 6:23 p.m. Martins Ferry Police assisted Bridgeport Police with a possible physical altercation between individuals on Gould Park Rd. near Gould Rd.

— 7:06 p.m. Martins Ferry Police assisted Bridgeport Police with a traffic stop involving an individual with a warrant on N Lincoln Ave. near Aetna St.

— 7:10 p.m. Officers were out on the 400 block of Aetna St. regarding a male possibly under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. Officers determined the male was under the influence and placed him into custody. The male was transported to the Belmont County Jail. Officers cleared.

— 8:18 p.m. Officers were out on the 500 block of N 8th St. with an irate male causing a disturbance. Officers spoke with the male and determined he was upset over an incident that occurred in another jurisdiction. Officers referred him to report the incident through the appropriate agency.

— 8:50 p.m. Officers were out on the 500 block of N 8th St. regarding a previous incident.

— 10:52 p.m. Officers were out on the 1000 block of Broadway St. for a report of a physical domestic dispute. Officers spoke with all individuals on scene and determined the incident was verbal only. Officers cleared.

— 11:41 p.m. Officers were out on the 500 block of S 3rd St. regarding a noise complaint. Officers informed residents of the city noise ordinance. Officers cleared.
