BELLAIRE VILLAGE TO HOLD TWO MEETINGS

BELLAIRE -- The Village of Bellaire will hold a Streets, Buildings and Properties meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, and an Ordinance meeting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26. Both meetings will be held in Council Chambers on the second floor of the Municipal Building.

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP TO DISCUSS STREETLIGHTS

ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- Colerain Township trustees will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at the township complex, 70730 Crescent Road, to discuss renewing streetlight assessments for Districts 1 and 2. The assessments are renewed every 10 years and will include a slight increase in the annual fee. The meeting is open to the public. No other township business will be discussed. ODOT PROJECTS AFFECT BELMONT COUNTY TRAFFIC

BELMONT COUNTY -- Several Ohio Department of Transportation projects are affecting traffic in Belmont County. Work continues on the I-70/SR 149 interchange at Exit 208 near Morristown, with two lanes maintained in each direction. The project is expected to be completed in 2029. Resurfacing continues on U.S. Route 40 from I-70 near Ladybend Hill to western St. Clairsville and on SR 147 between Barnesville and Belmont. Both projects are expected to be completed Sept. 30. A culvert repair on SR 149 west of Neffs Bellaire Road is expected to be completed Aug. 31.

ODOT PROJECTS AFFECT HARRISON COUNTY TRAFFIC

CADIZ -- Several Ohio Department of Transportation projects are affecting traffic in Harrison County. The eastbound U.S. Route 22 exit ramp for Cadiz, U.S. 250 east and SR 9 north is closed for 90 days, with a detour through Exit 224. Pavement rehabilitation continues on nearly 4 miles of U.S. 22, with one eastbound lane maintained. SR 799 is closed weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Aug. 28 for culvert replacements. SR 9 north of U.S. 22 has one lane maintained with temporary signals and an 11-foot width restriction. SR 151 west of Scio will close Sept. 8-11 for a culvert replacement.

SUMMER CRISIS PROGRAM OFFERS ENERGY ASSISTANCE

STEUBENVILLE -- The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and Jefferson County Community Action Council are offering Summer Crisis Program assistance through Sept. 30. Eligible households may receive help with electric bills, air conditioners, fans or central air conditioning repairs. A family of four must have an annual income of $57,750 or less. WHEELING POLICE TO HOLD DUI CHECKPOINT

WHEELING -- The Wheeling Police Department will hold a DUI checkpoint from 6-11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, along Zane Street on Wheeling Island. Only westbound traffic will be affected. Motorists may use North Broadway Street or North York Street as alternate routes.

LIBRARY PROGRAMS SET

STEUBENVILLE -- The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County will offer several programs this week. Tot Time for children ages 2-4 will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at the Tiltonsville Branch and at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at the Brilliant Branch. The Schiappa Branch will host a discussion of “The Third Gilmore Girl” by Kelly Bishop at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25. The Tiltonsville Branch’s Thriller Book Club will discuss “The Surgeon” by Leslie Wolfe at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25. Registration is required for Tot Time, and those interested in the Thriller Book Club should call 740-314-4280.
