ODOT projects to impact Belmont County traffic
BELMONT COUNTY -- Several Ohio Department of Transportation construction projects are expected to impact traffic in Belmont County. All work is weather permitting.
Work continues on the Interstate 70 and State Route 149 interchange improvement at Exit 208 near Morristown. Two lanes are maintained in both directions on I-70. The project is expected to be completed in 2029.
A U.S. Route 40 resurfacing project is underway on 11 miles from Ladybend Hill at I-70 east to the western end of St. Clairsville. Traffic is being maintained with flaggers. The project is expected to be completed Sept. 30.
A slide repair project on State Route 147 west of Key, between Wegee Road and Tiber Road, is being completed with temporary traffic signals. The project is expected to be completed Oct. 31.
State Route 149 remains closed west of Warnock for a retaining wall repair along McMahon Creek. Traffic is detoured via SR 9 south to SR 147 west and back to SR 149. The closure is expected to continue through Sept. 30.
A bridge rehabilitation project on SR 149 over Little McMahon Creek also is underway, with one lane maintained throughout construction. The project is expected to be completed Sept. 30.

Softball Tournament To Benefit Playground Project
ADENA -- The Buckeye Local West Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization will hold a co-ed softball tournament beginning at 9 a.m. today at Golden Wave Stadium to help raise money for a new playground.
Eight 10-member adult teams will compete in the double-elimination tournament. Food, a 50-50 drawing, Chinese auction and free bounce houses also are planned.
The PTO hopes to raise $140,000 to $170,000 for a new handicap-accessible playground near the school’s parking lot. Monetary donations may be made to the West Elementary PTO Playground Fund and sent to the school.
Cumberland Trail Fire District Board To Meet
ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- The Cumberland Trail Fire District Board will meet at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the ECO Center, 68332 Bannock Road.
The board, fire chief and fiscal officer will discuss matters before the district.
Belmont County Planning Commission To Meet
ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- The Belmont County Planning Commission will meet at noon Sept. 28 at the Annex III building, 101 N. Market St.
The meeting is open to the public.
Yorkville Produce Distribution Set
YORKVILLE -- The Yorkville Produce Distribution will hold its monthly distribution from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Oct. 10.
