WHEELING — The West Virginia First Foundation will soon distribute $19.2 million in a new Momentum Initiative Grant, to help organizations throughout the Mountain State combat substance use disorder and promote recovery. Man sentenced to life in 37-year-old murder case

WELLSBURG — A judge sentenced a Wellsburg man to life in prison, without chance of parole, after he pleaded guilty to the murder of his father – a death that had been called a suicide 37 years ago. The sentence for James Edward Adams Sr., 63, of Wellsburg, was complicated initially by conflicting testimony from Adams, who first confessed to the crime, then recanted in a psychological evaluation before reaffirming his earlier confession on Monday. Fatal crash in Monroe County

A passenger died in a one-vehicle accident in Monroe County at 2:22 a.m. Sunday. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Kregg A. Longwell, 33, of Woodsfield suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Monroe County Coroner. Longwell was sitting in the front passenger seat. The crash involved a 2004 Ford Escape driven by Rylee N. Harrigan, 18, of Graysville, Ohio.
