Friday Interstate 70 exit 218 ramp closure planned

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Drivers beware: More traffic restrictions are planned this week and next as part of ongoing road work in Belmont County.

Between 2 and 6 a.m. Friday, the Interstate 70 eastbound off-ramp at exit 218 is slated to be closed for four hours. This is part of a bridge repair project over Mall Road, which is part of the larger, ongoing $13 million upgrade project that started in 2016. The contractor on the job, Lash Paving of Colerain, is slated to pour an overlay on the bridge.

According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, traffic will be detoured on I-70 eastbound to exit 220 (Belmont County Road 214) then to I-70 west back to exit 218.

“Construction on the project — that stretches from almost a mile west of Mall Road to nearly four miles east of Mall Road — included pavement repairs, resurfacing, median barrier replacement, new guardrail, new lighting and bridge repairs on the I-70 bridges over Mall Road,” according to ODOT. The project is expected to be finished Oct. 15.

Meanwhile, starting Monday on Ohio 7 north between Shadyside and Dilles Bottom, traffic will be restricted with barrels for a drainage pipe replacement project. The work is expected to be finished July 13.

And starting July 17, work to repair a small slip is slated to occur on U.S. 250 between Colerain and Sunset Heights. Temporary traffic signals will be set up for the job, expected to be completed by July 21. The contractor for the $92,000 project is R.C. Construction Co. and Son Inc. of Cutler, Ohio.
