Customers visiting Nickles Bakery Thrift Shop in Martins Ferry were greeted Friday with a sign that said the business will close permanently Thursday. The shop, at 100 Broadway St., employs three people. Workers at the store said they were surprised to learn that the store will close. However, the employees will be offered jobs at the bakery. Sources indicate that all but two of the Nickles Bakery Thrift Shops are closing. One of the two that will remain open is the store in Navarre, which is where the company has its headquarters.
