Second Bridgeport armed robbery suspect arrested
BRIDGEPORT — The second suspect in an armed robbery has been arrested.
Richard L. Armstrong III, 18, of Canal Winchester, Ohio, turned himself in to the Bridgeport Police Department on Sunday night, according to published reports. His father reportedly brought him to the station.
Armstrong is being charged with aggravated burglary in connection with an armed robbery that occurred Jan. 21 at a Lee Street apartment in Bridgeport.
Another suspect in the case — a juvenile — already was arrested and taken to Sargus Juvenile Detention Center, located near the county jail west of St. Clairsville. He is charged with aggravated burglary and felonious assault.
During the robbery, one of the suspects allegedly fired a gun and a bullet passed through the floor of the residence and into another apartment unit below. No one was injured. There were four victims inside the apartment that was targeted for the robbery.
Armstrong is being held without bond at the Belmont County Jail.
