Photo Provided Brian Baker, left, Belmont County’s wildlife officer through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and sheriff’s Deputy Chad Kulpa attempt to rescue a bald eagle that collided with a vehicle on Sunday. Sheriff David Lucas said the incident occurred along Ohio 147 near Jacobsburg. Baker and Kulpa managed to restrain the bird’s talons and wings before transporting it to a rescue facility, but Lucas said Monday that he learned the animal had internal injuries from the collision and did not survive. Efforts to reach Baker Monday for more information were unsuccessful.
