Fun, food had at River Fest

The Belmont Soil and Water Conservation District and Ohio State University Extension sponsored the inaugural Ohio River Festival on Saturday afternoon at the Powhatan Point Marina to raise environmental awareness and to educate the local community on local water resources such as the Ohio River and Captina Creek. The event featured free boat rides, canoeing, fishing, information on boating safety, raffles, food trucks and vendors.
MiKayla Newman, a river ranger and nautural resource specialst for the Army Corps of Engineers in the tri-state area provides water safety literature and information during the festival.
