COVID-19 patients recover in Marshall

MOUNDSVILLE — The Marshall County Health Department announced Tuesday that two residents who had tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered.

According to Marshall County Health Administrator Tom Cook, two women in their 20s had completed quarantine and were released.

Cook said the quarantine procedure is to remain isolated for 14 days, and to be released at the end of the period if they have remained symptom-free in the last 72 hours. Previously, the quarantine involved being tested twice after a 72-hour period without symptoms, but Cook said that had been updated.

This brings the total active cases of COVID-19 in the county down to three, with the most recent case, a man in his 20s, being announced Monday. The other two cases are an elderly couple, the first to have been diagnosed. Cook reported that they continue to recover at home with “diminishing to no symptoms.”

Cook also advised that if people must leave their homes and cannot maintain social distancing, the Centers for Disease Control recommend a cotton facemask to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
