COVID deaths rising in Belmont, Monroe counties
WOODSFIELD — Monroe County, which had reported only two novel coronavirus deaths for the first several weeks of the pandemic, recorded its fifth death Tuesday.
Belmont County also reported an additional death, bringing its total to 10.
Bryan Casey, owner of Stellar Care Center, confirmed at least one of the Monroe deaths occurred at the senior care facility. He declined to provide more details.
The latest Belmont County death occurred at the Belmont Correctional Institution, which state officials said Monday is the new “hot spot” for COVID-19 infections in the Ohio prison system.
