ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Troopers from the St. Clairsville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash that was reported on Saturday as 12:23 a.m. on Crescent Road near Meadow Lane in Richland Township, Belmont County.

The crash involved a 2005 Harley Davidson driven by Frank Klan, 62, of Rayland. Preliminary reports indicates that Klan was traveling southbound on Crescent Road when the motorcycle left the right side of the roadway and struck a mailbox. Klan was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Klan was transported from the scene by Cumberland Trail EMS and later pronounced dead at Wheeling Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
