Planning ahead

BELMONT — The Blame My Roots Festival is expected to release its lineup of musical acts for the summer 2021 event today.

The 2020 festival was canceled because of COVID-19 virus concerns, but organizers are forging ahead with next summer’s plans.

Blame My Roots is set for July 16-17 at Valley View Campgrounds, which is located at 43263 National Road, Belmont, opposite the former Jamboree In The Hills site on National Road.

BMR was created by siblings Chris and Nina Dutton after JITH was canceled by Live Nation. The inaugural event happened in 2019 and was meant to fill the void left behind by the cancellation of JITH.

For decades, Valley View Campgrounds was used by people attending JITH. Live Nation announced in November 2018 that its festival would go on a “hiatus” until it decided what it wanted to do with the JITH site. However, no related announcement was ever made afterward, and JITH has not been restarted since.

Tickets for next summer’s Blame My Roots Festival go on sale starting with a “pre-sale” today at blamemyrootsfestival.com/…/register-for-pre-sale. On Friday, “early bird” tickets will go on sale starting at noon for everyone.

This year’s festival will last two days instead of three, according to the event’s website.
