BRIDGEPORT — The investigation of activities at a house on Bench Street in Bridgeport Monday night led to the arrest of one individual and the seizure of a multitude of narcotics.
The Bridgeport Police Department, along with the assistance of Martins Ferry police officers, obtained and served a search warrant Monday at 160 Bench St. in the village.
Bridgeport Police Chief John Bumba said the search resulted in the seizure of 850 Xanax pills, 88 hits of LSD, 34 Adderall pills, five Subutex pills, marijuana and $300 in cash.
Joshua Brandon Perko, 27, of 160 Bench St. was arrested and booked into the Belmont County Jail. He is charged with four counts of trafficking drugs and two counts of possession of drugs, all felonies. His bonds total $55,000.
Bumba said posts on the suspect’s social media account prompted the investigation.
“He (Perko) was posting some pictures of drugs on Snapchat and asking people if they wanted to buy the drugs off of him on there as well,” Bumba said.
After further investigation, police obtained the search warrant for Perko’s residence.
Bumba said he commends his officers for their work on this case and warns others against selling illegal drugs in the village.
“If you are going to sell drugs in Bridgeport, my officers will be paying you a visit,” he said.
The investigation and subsequent arrest is just one of many actie drug-related investigations underway by the police department, Bumba said.
He urges residents with information regarding drug trafficking to call the police department at 740-635-9999. Reports can be made anonymously.
