Martins Ferry shooting victim recovering

BRADLEY

MARTINS FERRY — Martins Ferry Police Chief John McFarland said Tuesday the victim in Monday’s shooting on Washington Street is recovering and has been interviewed by officers.

McFarland is not releasing the name of the victim at this time, but may do so this week after speaking with the man’s family. The man is being treated at a Pittsburgh-area hospital.

“He’s going to be OK. It’s shocking and amazing. We’re all dumbfounded by his recovery,” McFarland said.

The man was shot three times, allegedly by 48-year-old Timothy Damien Bradley, who is charged with attempted murder. However, that charge could change to felonious assault, depending on what the Belmont County Prosecutor’s Office ultimately decides, the chief added.

“The prosecutor’s office is waiting to get a statement from the victim,” McFarland said.

McFarland said his officers have body camera footage from three officers and also surveillance video from two different residents’ homes to aid in the case.

The shooting may have occurred over a disagreement regarding money for work.

At about 10:17 a.m. Monday, neighbors heard gunshots. Resident Richard Moore said the victim came pounding on his door, asking him to call for help. The victim appeared to be seriously wounded.

Moore said it appeared the victim had been shot at least three times, twice underneath his arm and once into his shoulder.

Bradley is being held at the Belmont County Jail on $15,000 bond.
