Bridgeport cancels homecoming game, dance due to COVID

BRIDGEPORT — The Bridgeport Bulldogs’ annual homecoming football game, scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday against Conotton Valley, is canceled.

Bridgeport Athletic Director Greg Harkness and Superintendent Brent Ripley both confirmed that several extra-curricular activities slated to take place over the next several days have been canceled due to the number of students who have been infected with or potentially exposed to COVID-19. In addition to the varsity football game and homecoming dance, Ripley said volleyball and junior high football games are also canceled.

Another district official said earlier Tuesday that efforts are underway to reschedule the homecoming activities.

No changes to classroom policies or procedures have been announced. The Bridgeport Board of Education meets in regular session at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the board office.
