Ready to get COVID vaccinated? Here’s where to get it done

MARTINS FERRY — Perhaps you were on the fence before about getting the COVID-19 vaccine, but now after learning more about it and seeing more people get sick from its variants you have changed your mind.

The next step is actually getting it and there are plenty of places to do so. Most local health departments are holding clinics at different mobile sites or at walk-in clinics at their headquarters. Many local pharmacies are also continuing to offer the vaccine as well.

For example, the Belmont County Health Department is holding free COVID vaccination clinics on the following dates and places:

— 1-4 p.m. Sept. 28, Ohio Valley Mall’s former Christopher & Banks clothing store;

— 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 29, Ohio University Eastern Health and Physical Education Center;

— 1-4 p.m. Oct. 5-6 and 12-13, Ohio Valley Mall’s former Christopher & Banks clothing store;

— 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.Oct. 14 and 20, Ohio University Eastern Health and Physical Education Center; and

— 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Nov. 4 and 10, Ohio University Eastern Health and Physical Education Center.

The health department has the two-shot Pfizer and Moderna vaccines and the one-shot Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccines all available. For those who already have had their first dose of a vaccine they are asked to bring their shot record card to be filled out and completed.

The health department is also offering the seasonal flu vaccine during these same clinics. People are asked to bring their insurance cards for the seasonal vaccine.

There are also several local pharmacies offering the COVID vaccination.

According to CVS, the pharmacy is now administering the vaccine to walk-in customers with no appointments necessary. Local CVS locations include, 404 Aetna St., Martins Ferry; 1126 Market St., downtown Wheeling; 842 National Road, Wheeling; 68501 Addie Way, St. Clairsville.

The Walgreens pharmacy at 400 Public Road, Yorkville, also is administering the vaccine; to make an appointment call 740-859-2449 or visit the store. There is also a Walgreens at 901 E Main St., Barnesville; 740-425-1003.

The Kroger pharmacy at 400 28th St., Bellaire, is administering the vaccine to walk-in customers, according to a pharmacy employee. Other local Kroger pharmacy locations include: 50789 Valley Plaza Dr., St. Clairsville; 200 Mount de Chantal Road, Wheeling; 1211 Warwood Ave., Wheeling; 1300 Lafayette Ave., Moundsville.

The Save Rite pharmacy, located 3235 Belmont St, Bellaire, has the Johnson & Johnson vaccine available; call 740-676-3433.

The Morristown Pharmacy, 639 W. Main St., Morristown, typically administers the Johnson & Johnson vaccine on Tuesdays and Thursdays and the Pfizer vaccine Monday-Friday. People can walk in or make an appointment by calling 740-782-1230.

The St. Clairsville Riesbeck’s pharmacy at 104 Plaza Drive is administering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to walk-in customers. The Bridgeport Riesbeck’s pharmacy, 56130 National Road, is administering the Moderna vaccine on Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on a walk-in basis. The Shadyside Riesbeck’s pharmacy, 4595 Central Ave., is administering the Moderna vaccine on a walk-in basis.

The Cadiz Rite Aid pharmacy, 651 Lincoln Ave., is administering the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines daily to walk-in customers.

In Woodsfield, the Bellwood Drugs Pharmacy, 135 S. Maint St., is administering the Moderna vaccine to walk-in customers. Fridays are their least busy day, according to an employee there.

The Harrison County Health Department, 538 N. Main St., Cadiz, is holding walk-in clinics on Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. They have the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

The Monroe County Health Department, 118 Home Ave., Woodsfield, is holding walk-in clinics at the following times and dates: 9-11 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sept. 28, Moderna vaccine; 9-11 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sept. 23, Pfizer vaccine; 9-11 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sept. 30, Pfizer vaccine.

The Jefferson County General Health District, 500 Market St., Steubenville, is administering the vaccine by appointment on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; call 740-283-8530.

The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department, 1500 Chapline St., Wheeling, is holding walk-in vaccination clinics from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Monday-Friday. The Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are all available.
