Boyd sentenced to 13 years for vehicular homicide

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Donald Boyd, 61, will spend the next 13 years in prison for aggravated vehicular homicide and two drug offenses.

Boyd was found guilty of going left of center and causing the head-on collision on Willow Grove Road in Neffs that took the life of Robert Hartley, 52, of Moundsville in September 2018.

The sentencing hearing included tearful testimony by a relative of Hartley who asked that a stiff sentence be imposed. Boyd’s prior record was also taken into account.

Boyd, of Bellaire, asked for a lighter sentence and spoke about his lifelong issues and lasting remorse since the accident.
