The death of Tina Gamble is considered a homicide, and her husband, Joshua Gamble, is in police custody in connection with the case.

STEUBENVILLE -- A Jefferson County woman is dead and her husband is in police custody after a disturbance Monday night at their home, Sheriff Fred Abdalla Jr. said.

Abdalla declined Tuesday to discuss the circumstances surrounding the death of 56-year-old Tina Gamble, but he said her husband, Joshua Gamble, 37, is being held in the Jefferson County jail in connection with the incident.

Prosecutor Jane Hanlin said Tuesday that charges of murder and tampering with evidence "will be filed by tomorrow."

Abdalla said her death is being investigated as a homicide.

He said the call reporting the matter came in around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

"The sheriff's department has had a history with the individuals in the past on various disputes and domestic disturbances," Abdalla said. "The investigation is continuing, and we're working side-by-side with Hanlin and the prosecutor's office."

The couple lived at 180 Township Road 1308, between Smithfield and Dillonvale.
