Porter resigns as UL superintendent

BELMONT — Ben Porter resigned Monday morning as superintendent of the Union Local School District.

Porter made the decision after eight years on the job and close to 16 years working in the district. Porter said he is mentally drained, particularly after recent onerous years of meeting a variety of challenges.

The Union Local School District Board of Education has scheduled an emergency meeting for 7:30 p.m. Monday at the district campus at 66779 Belmont-Morristown Road for the purpose of appointment of personnel and any other business deemed necessary.

Treasurer Janet Hissrich said the board would release a statement following the meeting.
