Lewisburg man arrested in St. C., facing charge of importuning

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — A Lewisburg man was arrested Saturday for allegedly traveling to the city intending to have sexual activities with a minor.

According to the report from city police, at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, officers arrested Nathan Allen Holycross, 44, of 247 E. Maple St., Lewisburg, Ohio,

According to Chief Matt Arbenz, the arrest followed an investigation after Holycross initially attempted to contact and make arrangements with a 14-year-old on social media. Arbenz reported that Holycross suggested that he and the juvenile meet for sex.

After Holycross was made aware that the person he was in contact with was a minor, Arbenz said, he continued to pursue the meeting and planned to bring several items for use in the sexual conduct.

Holycross was taken to Belmont County Jail and was later released on bail. Charges have been filed by the Belmont County Prosecutor’s Office for Importuning, a third-degree felony.

According to Belmont County Western Division Court, Holycross appeared before Belmont County Western Division Court Judge Eric Costine on Tuesday. A bond of $2,500 was set, and Holycross is set to appear for another hearing at 1 p.m. Oct. 4.
