One dies in car accident in Dillonvale

DILLONVALE — The Steubenville post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a fatal accident Wednesday.

According to Trooper Greg Scalley, the crash was reported at 2:03 p.m.

“It occurred on Ohio 152 near Novak Drive in Smithfield Township,” he said. “A Chevy Impala was traveling northbound on Ohio 152 and it traveled off the right side of the roadway over a hill and struck multiple trees. The driver was pronounced deceased on scene. As of the cause, it is still under investigation.”

Scalley added that an airbag deployed, but no seat belt was in use.

The driver’s name has since been released. Ronald Kiss, 66, of Dillonvale died following the crash.

“Short Creek EMS was on scene,” Scalley said, noting that the first responders treated Kiss for cardiac arrest. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. “We still have to wait on the coroner’s investigation, whether it was medical related or a result of the crash.”

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office is investigating.
