UPDATE: Shadyside water gets an all-clear

SHADYSIDE — The village water is safe as of 9 a.m. following a fluoride imbalance detected last night, according to Mayor Bob Newhart.

He said the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has viewed the test results and declared the water safe to consume. Newhart said a water break early Thursday created a vacuum, which led to the problem, but the equipment is in good working order.

He added there will be a water buffalo at the OR&W fire station at 4210 Central Avenue through Monday as a precaution, should residents wish to fill jugs of water.
