Man arrested for assault on Bridgeport police

BRIDGEPORT — A police call to a residence turned violent Monday when Bridgeport officers arrived at a home on the 600 block of Howard Street, and the man was reportedly unstable.

“We were called to a house along with some mental health officials who went to the house, and the person in question was in there talking to the mental health workers. He locked the door, locked them in there. They got scared and left the house when he went into the kitchen area, and they called us,” Bumba said.

“When we arrived, the male did come out after knocking on the door for a while. We were talking to him and went to place him into custody, then he started swinging at officers and took off running. He was tased,” Bumba said, adding he and two other officers had to employ the Tasers.

“He’s been charged with three counts of assault on a police officer. He received injuries in the scuffle and was transported to East Ohio Regional Hospital by a squad, at which time he was treated and released,” Bumba said.

Milan is now being held in the Belmont County Jail. According to Belmont County Northern Division Court, he is scheduled to appear Wednesday before Judge Chris Berhalter.
