ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- Belmont Correctional Institution named Allison Jones as its 2023 Correction Officer of the Year and Brandon Ring as Employee of the Year.
Jones is a relief officer on second shift at the prison. She started her career in corrections in December 2012 at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville. She transferred to Belmont Correctional in August 2018. She is very security-minded and possesses exceptional observational skills, according to a release from the prison.
"She is firm, fair and consistent and enforces institutional rules among the incarcerated adults. She is very dependable and knowledgeable. She is a team player and works well with all staff," it states.
Warden David Gray said she is an invaluable part of the staff.
"Officer Jones came to us from Lucasville. Since arriving at BeCI, she has earned the respect of our population and her peers. We are grateful she chose to come to BeCI as she has been an invaluable member of our team. We are proud to name her our Officer of the Year as she will represent our facility well."
Jones is a correctional professional and is respected by her coworkers, supervisors, and the incarcerated population. She was recognized as Belmont Correctional's Officer of the Month in December 2022. She is a nominee for the Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections Officer of the Year, which will be chosen next month. She graduated from Buckeye Local High School and attended Eastern Gateway Community College. She currently resides in Bloomingdale. Jones enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Ring was recognized as Employee of the Month in December, making him eligible for consideration as Employee of the Year. His peers then voted him to the honor of Employee of the Year.
As a correction lieutenant on second shift, he directs the operation of his shift and supervises his subordinates. Recently, he has been temporarily assigned to the position of correction captain. He takes on extra tasks such as being a member of the institution's Special Response Team, the release states.
Gray commended his work.
"Brandon is a growing leader in our agency. He continues to challenge himself while taking care of the folks he is in charge of. He has earned the support of his peers who voted for him as our Employee of the Year."
Ring began his career with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction at the prison in November 2012 as a correction officer. He was promoted to correction lieutenant in May 2015. He graduated from Monroe Central High School and attended Youngstown State University. He is a former member of the Ohio Army National Guard and currently resides in St. Clairsville.
