Strawberry Festival planned Saturday

MARTINS FERRY — Project Forward will host its annual, family-friendly Strawberry Festival on Saturday.

The event will take place from noon to 10 p.m. on Fourth Street and some of the side streets in downtown Martins Ferry.

This year’s Strawberry Festival will feature live music, a car show, a dog show, food trucks, craft vendors and inflatables.

Attendees can expect to see and taste more than just strawberries on Saturday. Several food trucks and vendors will be selling a variety of different foods and snacks. Beer and wine will also be available to purchase.

Along with the food trucks, local craft vendors will have tents and tables set up throughout the festival selling a variety of handmade goods.

Three bands will perform at this year’s Strawberry Festival. The Sarah Hays Band, a classic rock band, will start its performance at 12:30 p.m. Crush will perform ’80s rock at 3:30 p.m. Bon Journey, a Bon Jovi and Journey tribute band, will begin a performance at 7 p.m.

Bon Journey will be the highlighted band at the Strawberry Festival this year. Bon Journey has won multiple awards and was first started in Pittsburgh in 2006. More information about the band can be found at realbonjourney.com.

The dog show will take place at 2:30 p.m. and will be sponsored by The Snotty Pooch Stylish Pet Boutique, located in St. Clairsville. The dog show will feature a “bested dressed” contest and a “wiener dog race.”

The Strawberry Festival will also have inflatables and rides for both children and adults, such as obstacle course races and bounce houses.

The sponsors for this weekend’s event include Dan Stephens State Farm, Unified Bank, Hot Rod Tattooing, AEP, Wilson Funeral Home – Heslop Chapel and Belmont County Tourism. The Times Leader will be the media sponsor for the festival.

Parking throughout town will be free during the event, and there is no charge for admission.

All proceeds from the festival help fund Project Forward’s future activities. Project Forward has been hosting the Strawberry Festival since 2018.
