Father in Union Local bus fight sentenced to community service
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The father of a boy involved in a fight on a Union Local School District bus was sentenced Tuesday, after pleading guilty to aggravated menacing by threatening the bus driver who broke up the fight.
David Miller, 50, of Belmont was sentenced to 90 days in jail with all but seven suspended. Western Division Court Judge Eric Costine vacated the remaining seven days to community service.
Miller apologized, saying he spoke rashly and was concerned his son had been assaulted by the driver. A viral video from mid-April shows the fight between two students and the bus driver restraining the apparent aggressor, who appears to strike the driver and shout profanity at him. Costine said officials have said the driver acted appropriately.
