Monroe chamber to host ‘Party in the Park’

CLARINGTON — The Monroe County Chamber of Commerce is hosting “SUNsational Saturday Party at the Park” from noon to 8 p.m. on July 29 at Clarinda Park.

The event will feature inflatables, a dunk tank, vendors, food and live entertainment.

Sensory playtime for children will take place before the event from 10 a.m. to noon. The general public will not be permitted to enter the park for the event until noon.

Rick Tincher and Jess Schoonover will perform country, hillbilly bluegrass and classic rock music from noon to 3 p.m., and Usual Suspects, a band from Powhatan Point, will perform music from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s from 4-7 p.m.

A variety of food trucks and concessions will be at the event, and the Monroe County Future Farmers of America will be providing pulled pork sandwich meals at the event.

Various small local businesses, vendors and artisans will set up in the park to sell their goods.

Proceeds earned from the dunk tank will benefit Cancer Gas Cards, a local organization based in Woodsfield that supports cancer patients by providing them with gas cards to help them offset their gas expenses during their treatment, and the Beallsville Rally for Life, an annual fundraiser that helps members of the local community battling cancer.

Money raised from the event will circulate back into the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce to support future activities and events as well as local clubs, groups and nonprofits.

The event was sponsored by Ohio Valley Community Federal Credit Union, Valence Drilling Fluids, Litman Enterprises, Clair Tavern and Grill, Smig’s Ice Cream and Deli, Precision Excavating Company, EQUINOR, Smithberger Realty Woodsfield Savings Bank, Ohio Valley Training Center Ohio State University Extension – Monroe County, Clarington Community Committee, Mick and Ashley Schumacher, WVU Medicine- Barnesville Hospital, Geo. V. Hamilton, Inc. and Commonwealth Financial Service – Nikki Lude.

Anyone who wishes to become a vendor at the event can fill out a registration form at the Monroe Country Chamber of Commerce. The form can also be found on their Facebook page.

The Monroe County Chamber of Commerce is located at 117 North Main St. in Woodsfield.

Vendors must pay a $20 fee and can set up between 10 a.m. and noon. Vendors must provide their own tables, chairs and canopy if desired.
