Monroe County Fair bounces back after rainy weather

WOODSFIELD -- Fairgoers experienced some rainy weather Wednesday evening at the 173rd Monroe County Fair, but the festivities continue on.
The fair kicked off Monday morning and runs through Saturday. The fairgrounds will be open every day from 8 a.m. until midnight. The fair will feature a variety of entertainment, exhibits, livestock shows, carnival rides, vendors and food. Rides open at 3 p.m. every day through Saturday.
Carly Elliot, 7, said that she enjoys the variety of food at the fair.
"They have the best lemonade here, and the ice cream is really good, too," she said.
A variety of animals including cows, sheep, goats, llamas, alpacas, chickens, ducks and rabbits can be seen at the Monroe County Fair.
Wednesday's rain did cause one schedule change. Fair board members decided to reschedule the antique tractor pull to 9 a.m. Saturday due to the weather. The event was originally scheduled for Wednesday evening.
A flag-raising ceremony will take place at 8:45 a.m. daily, and a flag retreat will take place at 7:45 p.m. every evening.
An arcade will be open every day from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and fairgoers must pay an additional $5 to enter. The entry fee will cover free unlimited play for the day, and fairgoers will be given a wristband so that they can visit the arcade several times that day.
"The arcade has a lot of really fun games. I almost got a high score on one of the racing games," Will Russell, 10, said.

Friday
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. - COSI on wheels
1 p.m. - Water balloon volleyball contest
1:30 p.m. - 4-H Cloverbud graduation
2 p.m. - FFA Kid's Day activities
3:30 p.m. - Animal dress-up contest
6 p.m. - Buckeye State pedal pull
7 p.m. Truck and tractor pull
Saturday
9 a.m. - Antique tractor pull
3:30-5:30 p.m. - Carson Clouse performance
7 p.m. - Demolition derby
8-11 p.m. - Square dance
10 p.m. - Garden tractor pulls
The displays in the Rowley Building will be removed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Admission costs $10 each day and will include rides and shows. Children ages 2 and under can enter the fair for free. Fairgoers can also purchase season tickets for $35 each which will not include rides. Ride passes can be purchased for an additional $6.
Friday will be "youth kids day" meaning that admission and rides for children ages 3-12 will be reduced to $7 for the day.
