Bellaire Business Alliance to host car, truck and bike show
BELLAIRE — The Bellaire Business Alliance and Ohio Valley Farmers’ Market will host the second annual Bellaire Business Bash Car, Bike and Truck Show, and the market’s annual Big Green Event on Aug. 5. Downtown Bellaire will be filled with classic vehicles and activities for all ages.
Adults can enjoy an alcoholic beverage within the new Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area. Beverages can be purchased at a participating establishment within the DORA beginning at 11 a.m. No outside alcohol will be permitted at the event.
The car show will be held from noon to 3 p.m.
Those who wish to register for the car show must pay a $10 pre-registration fee per car and $12 the day of the event which begins at 10 a.m. Independent judges will award trophies in multiple categories, and dash plaques will be given to the first 200 registrants.
Everyone who enters the car show will be given a chance to win a $500 cash prize donated by a Friend of Bellaire. Those who pre-register will have their name entered twice. To register for the car show, contact Rick Eden, car show director and owner of Eden’s Auto Ranch, at 3042150185.
The Farmers’ Market will also be taking place during the car show with extended hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will celebrate its Big Green Event. Activities will include music by RJ Gaudio, Troubadour from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Zoe Buccella from 1-3 p.m.
Butterflies from Heather, an organization run by West Virginia butterfly expert Heather Tokas, will provide a walk-in butterfly tent at the event.
Local woodcarver Rich Beekman will offer a wood-carving demonstration.
The JB Green Team will provide information on making earth-friendly choices, and the Market will distribute reusable shopping bags provided by the EQT Foundation.
The event will also feature an activity at the Kids’ Corner, and the Market will offer face painting from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The BBA will have games and there will be inflatables for kids set up on 33rd St. Those who wish to participate must purchase a wristband for $5.
The Market will also have a Tasting Tent where attendees can sample tomato sandwich appetizers, dip, herbal refreshers, bacon-wrapped meatballs and desserts all made by or with ingredients from the Market’s vendors. Children are invited to sign up to be a sous chef for the day. Hourly slots are available each Saturday.
The Market is held in the municipal parking lot on 32nd and Union Streets. All traffic will need to enter by turning east on Crescent St. and driving north on Union St. to the lot.
Once Upon a Lifetime Photography will host a 1950’s themed beauty pageant at 1 p.m. in the park. The Bellaire Classic Miss and Mr. Greaser Contest will feature eight categories: Toddler Miss Bellaire Classic (1-5 years old), Toddler Mr. Greaser Bellaire Classic (1-5 years old), Junior Miss Bellaire Classic (6-12 years old), Junior Mr. Greaser Bellaire Classic (6-12 years old), Teen Miss Bellaire Classic (13-19 years old), Teen Mr. Greaser (13-19 years old), Ms. Bellaire Classic (20 years or older and not married) and Mrs. Bellaire Classic (20 years or older and married).
Contestants will be judged on appearance and personality.
One winner from each category will receive a Bellaire business gift card, a crown and sash and a free photoshoot at Once Upon A Lifetime Photography.
Contestants who have pre-registered online can sign in at noon, and judging will take place at 1 p.m.
Those who wish to enter the beauty pageant must register online. Registration will end on Aug. 3 just before midnight. Once Upon A Lifetime Photography is also offering a family discount. Registration fees must be paid in full at the time of registration.
