ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- The East Central Ohio Educational Service Center has announced the receipt of three new Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center grants and the continuation of two additional grants.
The combination of the new and continuation grants, amounting to $2,900,000, will significantly bolster ECOESC's after-school and summer programming over the next five years in the following schools: Bellaire Elementary, Bellaire MS/HS, Bridgeport MS, Martins Ferry MS, Fox Run Alternative School, STAR School, and The Village Alternative School. These programs are designed to provide targeted support in Reading, Math, and career exploration, ensuring students' continued progress and success.
"We deeply appreciate the allocation of federal funding to support our schools' 21st CCLC programs," said Lori Robson, Executive Director of Educational Services. "Our team is thrilled to have secured these grants that allow us to continue providing impactful enrichment opportunities to our students."
The 21st CCLC program, championed by Governor DeWine, stands as a cornerstone of academic enrichment and youth development. Its purpose aligns seamlessly with ECOESC's mission to help schools help students.
By expanding community learning centers, these grants play a pivotal role in addressing the challenges posed by the pandemic, as highlighted in Ohio's Future Forward initiative.
